TYLER-Tyler Police are investigating a domestic dispute that sent two people to the hospital with stab wounds Friday night.
The dispute happened at the Town House Motel located at 2420 East Gentry Parkway around 10:30 p.m. Friday. Police say they got a call from the motel manager who said a lady was outside the motel office bleeding from her neck.
"When police responded, they found out that the couple living in room 122 had started out with a domestic dispute which turned into a physical altercation," Sergeant Bill Goecking said. Police said they quickly located the boyfriend inside room 122 who was also injured. The couple was later identified as Anthony Thompson, 52, and Margie Gipson. "Both of them somehow obtained knives," Goecking said. "The woman was cut in the throat by the boyfriend and the boyfriend was punctured in the stomach, left arm and face with a knife that the woman had."
Both subjects were transported to East Texas Medical Center. Police say preliminary indications are that a mutual combat situation may have existed during the incident. Crime scene investigators and detectives from the Major Crimes unit were called to the scene. Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
As of Saturday night, Gipson was still in the hospital in good condition. According to the Smith County website, Thompson is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and is being held at the Smith County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
