TEXAS - Just in time for the holidays sobriety checkpoints in Texas could soon be coming to a highway near you.
Texas law enforcement agencies have been unable to set up highway checkpoints since 1994.
The Texas Public safety commission has asked Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott if he can authorize driver checkpoints.
Back in 1994 the Court Of Criminal Appeals ruled that sobriety checkpoints must be authorizes by statewide policy, coming from a governing body.
The Attorney General isn't talking about this matter publicly yet, due to it still being in the early stages of being authorized.
