CORRIGAN, TX — “Yes, it will be built in our lifetime.”
That comment was made by Texas Transportation Commissioner Jeff Austin III, who, along with Texas Department of Transportation Executive Director Phil Wilson and state Sen. Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville), joined local and regional officials at a news conference Friday in Corrigan to announce details on three regional I-69 projects.
The Lufkin and Nacogdoches areas will receive $12 million for environmental and engineering studies on portions of I-69, including a proposed bypass expected to run east of Lufkin and Diboll, with another $5 million for an environmental and engineering study in Corrigan. No timetable was given for completion of the projects.
