Tyler, TX (KETK) — Back in 1984 President Ronald Reagan declared the third Sunday in July as National Ice Cream Day, to coincide with July being National Ice Cream month.
And with East Texas summer heat, I couldn't think of a better part of the country to celebrate this occasion.
Now although it's National Ice Cream Day, i don't think the late president would hold it against anyone who decided to celebrate with frozen yogurt or custard.
East Texans KETK spoke with say that there is something nostalgic about ice cream.
Whether they remember their grandparents churning it in the back yard, or sitting on the sidewalk, waiting to hear the sweat treat's music rolling down the lane.
And for others, today was just a special time to be outside with family and friends, and enjoy something that makes them all happy.
But for local frozen businesses, this time of year, everyday is ice cream day.
