Tyler TX — Here in East Texas the Spring and Summer are called "kitten season."
During these seasons the weather reaches extreme heats and many stray kittens come out looking for food and water.
Angela Wallace from Klein Animal Shelter told KETK that there are ways to prevent stray cats.
Wallace said that spay or neutering your cat will help prevent strays and also keep them from becoming an issue, even where they could get hit by a car.
Most vets in East Texas offer spay or neutering procedures, but what about when you can't afford it?
Wallace told KETK that there are a list of different options online for people who need assistance in spay or neutering their four-legged friends.
If you do see stray cats around your home it is important to notify Animal Control. Although leaving food out will encourage the strays, water is harmless and extremely needed. Stray cats are easily overheated in the hot sun and appreciate as much water as possible.
So be sure to help out any strays you find this Summer and help take care of these homeless felines.
