NACOGDCOHES, TX — When the Nacogdoches Film Festival was just a thought in the minds of a few people, the goal was to bring more attention to Nacogdoches within the art community.
And that’s exactly what’s happened.
The Austin Film Society has aligned with Nacogdoches to help recognize young up-and-coming artists in the industry, said Ron Johnson, the local festival’s lead organizer.
“In our alignment with them, they’re doing a fall series in September, October, November and December of their films going out of different areas,” Johnson said. “They’ll have a director, producer, or one of the actors come and have a workshop at the college, then show a film in the evening for the public.”
The overall theme of education and entertainment will allow film, theater and art students to have a workshop by someone involved in the film’s production, learn from them and then see the finished product.
