The voters in Tyler and parts of Smith County will be voting on alcohol sales this November.
But one local group still says the petitions may not be valid.
The group Stand Strong for Tyler doesn’t want us to vote on sales of beer and wine in November.
And they say part of the problem is the petitions that were submitted to the city to get the proposition on the ballot.
And they indeed found discrepancies, including three signatures of people who had been dead for as long as a year.
At times the press conference got heated as a member of the pro alcohol Buy Local First challenged the opposition group.
But ultimately when the City Council convened, and the arguments were heard, it didn’t matter.
The Council voted unanimously to put the issue to a vote in November.
