Lufkin ,Tx — An anonymous donor has given Angelina College more than half a million dollars to be used for nursing scholarships, the school’s president told its board of trustees Monday night.
President Larry Phillips said the donor’s sister, who was a nurse, passed away and left her estate to him. Phillips, who called the act “unbelievable” and “tremendous,” said the money will be able to provide 10 scholarships for nursing students this year and as many as 15 to 20 scholarships in coming years.
