HENDERSON, Texas — Rusk County commissioners voted Monday to increase the tax rate slightly less than 3 percent to fund a budget less than $36 million.
Commissioners agreed to base the county’s 2012-13 budget on an effective tax rate of 43.19 cents per $100 valuation — a 2.6 percent increase. The effective tax rate is the rate required to generate the same amount of revenue as the previous year.
County taxes on a property valued at $100,000 would be $431.90 per year, up from $420.70 from this fiscal year.
