Trial of Lufkin man charged in stabbing death starts today

Lufkin, TX — A Lufkin man will face a jury this week in the March stabbing death of another Lufkin man.

If found guilty in what is expected to be a three-day jury trial, Rodney Evan Shepherd, 44, could be sentenced up to life in prison for the death of 58-year-old Frederic Gilmore. His trial is set to begin at 9 a.m. today before state District Judge Paul White.
