Lufkin, TX — -- February report indicated that milk for snacks was discontinued because staff were taking too much for themselves --
A Lufkin nursing home facility was rated among the worst in Texas for patient safety, according to a ProPublica review.
The review of Parkwood Place Healthcare Center released two weeks ago is based on a February 2012 investigation by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services. In the report, Parkwood Place Healthcare Center, at 300 N. Bynum St., received 11 citations for failing to meet proper standards. Based on the findings of the report, ProPublica, a non-profit newsroom that produces investigative journalism in the public interest, gave the facility a rating of “K,” meaning the organization believes there is “immediate jeopardy to resident health or safety” and the deficiency is “part of a pattern.”
