Lufkin ,Tx — The city of Lufkin is proposing a $64.5 million fiscal 2013 budget that includes a tax rate reduction of one cent, a cost-of-living increase for city employees, and no rate increase for solid waste or water and sewer services.
According to City Manager Paul Parker, the proposed tax rate is expected to be reduced by one cent from 51.38 cents per $100 valuation to 50.38 cents. The effective rate, the rate needed to generate the same amount of revenue as last year, is 50.91 cents.
