Shreveport, La — Update: Shreveport police tell KETK the infant's death has been ruled "accidental" and no charges will be pressed against the child's father.
He admitted to leaving the 6-month old girl, Lourdes Marie Duvall, in his SUV at LSU Medical Center while he went to work on Wednesday. He later returned to his car to find her unresponsive. She was prounced dead in the emergency room.
New information has surfaced in the death of an infant at the LSU Medical Center's parking lot.
At around 4:00 p.m., Shreveport police were dispatched to LSUHSC in the 1500 block of Kings Highway to reports [1] of a child found dead in a vehicle.
When officers arrived, they talked to a man who said he found his daughter, later identified as six-month-old Lourdes Marie Duvall, unresponsive in an SUV. The baby was then taken by police to the emergency room where she was pronounced dead.
Investigators believe the child's father, who is an employee at the hospital, accidentally left the baby in the SUV when he went into work.
At this time, no charges have been filed against the father.
Authorities with the Shreveport Police Department, Caddo Parish District Attorney's Office and Caddo Parish Coroner's Office are working to determine how this tragedy happened.
