Lufkin ,Tx — An Angelina County woman’s home burned to the ground while her family was at her funeral Thursday afternoon, according to a member of the Fuller Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
The fire began around 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the home of Sarah Beck on 4741 state Highway 103 east and crews from five area fire departments moved quickly to try to contain the blaze. However, the fire was too out of control when fireman arrived, Fuller Springs VFD Assistant Fire Chief Bobby Cranford said.
“When we arrived, the home was fully involved on one end,” Cranford said. “By the time we got everything together, the fire was just too involved.”
Because the fire occurred in the county, a fire investigator from Austin will be handling the investigation.
