Lufkin ,Tx — Lufkin Industries’ top executive this past week gave an update on the company’s local and worldwide operations, saying the company has basically doubled in size since 2010.
The comments by Jay Glick, president and CEO of the Lufkin-based company, came during the annual Industry Appreciation event sponsored by the Lufkin 4B Economic Development Corporation and the Lufkin/Angelina County Economic Development Partnership. The event typically has been held at the Red Barn in Lufkin, but on Wednesday evening Lufkin Industries hosted the event on Ellis Avenue, across the street from The Lufkin News.
“For the last couple of years, we’ve been in a big expansion mode,” Glick told the local industry and economic development representatives at the event. “We did five acquisitions in the last 12 months, and we’ve essentially doubled the size of the company in the last two years, so we now have about 4,500 employees around the world.
