Tyler, TX — It's hunting season.... and before hunters head outdoors they are taking a required safety course. No matter how much you know about hunting and safety, you can always learn more.
Hunter's whom are born after September 2, 1971 are required to take Hunters Education. It's a program offered by the Texas Parks and Wildlife.
It's a two-day course that teaches safety, handling fire arm, and choosing a target. You have the option of taking a portion of the course online and in-person.
Don Miller, Chief for the program, suggests hunters of all ages go through the course.
There are several chances to take the course throughout the year. The course is required to obtain a hunting license in the state of Texas.
Brad Clark, Game Warden, Texas Parks & Wildlife says, that he has been to several training courses, and people will learn something regardless if they have been hunting their whole life or if they're are just learning how to hunt.
"It's very important, it's just a safety issue, we wok hunting accidents, and we have too many hunting accidents.
