Lufkin, tx — A Lufkin man is behind bars after trying to escape police during a routine traffic stop early Tuesday morning.
At 12:28 a.m., officers tried to stop William D. Curl, 27, of Lufkin, for a traffic violation on the 800 block of North Timberland Drive, but he refused to pull over.
The suspect led police on chase to his driveway in the 300 block of Lake Alley, where he was arrested on scene.
Officers later discovered Curly had three warrants out for his arrest-- two with the Lufkin Police Department and one with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office.
Curly was charged with evading arrest and unlawful restraint and assault for an incident on July 7, when he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and kept her from leaving the residence.
His bonds total $13,500.
