TYLER — "There are 47% of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47% who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…"
That came from Mitt Romney in a hidden camera video that was taken at a private fundraising event recently and posted to liberal website Mother Jones.
This isn't the Mitt Romney that's often criticized as being a stiff...this is Mitt Romney unleashed.
Take it from Tyler Tea Party's Tammy Blair...she's not even a Romney fan.
"I think he was refreshingly honest...for a change. You know, I think he said some of the things that we all think. And some of the things we talk about among our friends," Blair said.
Blair has always felt like there is not much difference between Romney and President Obama.
"What I want to see is a difference! And thats...you know, when I see something like this video I say 'ok, well, maybe there's a difference!'" Blair said.
Ashton Oravetz, chair of the Smith County Republican party agrees with Romney that there are certain Americans who just won't vote for him because of government dependence.
"Unfortunately this country is doing too much in the way of 'What's best for me? Whether you're looking at chronie capitalism or people that are on welfare and really want to stay on welfare...and just want more money instead of what's best for the country,'" Oravetz said.
Of course, Romney immediately reacted to the content of the video basically saying he could have put his comments more elegantly, but he stands by what was said.
