Tyler, TX — You hear it all the time if you watch TV. We are talking about testosterone.
Testosterone commercials aimed at men.
Many men are starting to get a complex thinking that low testosterone is a problem. Testosterone advertisements are selling gels and supplements to boost testosterone.
According to reports, many ads try to diagnose men convincing them they have testosterone problem and to buy products.
There's a safer approach, don't always believe what you see and read.
Rene McCarty, Physical Assistant, of Lifetime Health Center tells KETK what does it mean to have low testosterone.
"Men will develop a condition over time known as Andropause, where the testosterone levels will slowly decline, and this may begin as early as 50 years of age and reaching a peak in the late 50's and early 60's," says McCarty.
McCarty tells KETK, men with low testosterone will experience fatigue, loss of motivation, feeling of burnout. She adds, most men may notice their muscle tissue decreasing, and libido and sex drive declines over time. Most men feel grumpy or irritable.
McCarty says, to boost testosterone a healthy way is: vigorous exercise and sexual activity.
Don't get pulled in by testosterone adds.
McCarty tells KETK, It's important to get your testosterone levels checked because if your testosterone levels are normal, then low testosterone may not be your problem.
