Longview, TX — The Second Annual Elite Diamond Sports East Texas College Showcase will be played at “The Softball Fields at Lear Park” in Longview this weekend, September 22 - 23. There will be 40 eighteen and under teams plus 10 sixteen and under girls fast pitch softball teams, a total of 50 of some of the finest fast pitch softball teams in the Ark-La-Tex. The Tournament is full with a waiting list. Last year was the first year the tournament was played in Longview.
The Showcase is played as a way for the young talented fast pitch players to be able to perform before college coaches and hopefully gain some recognition that could lead to a college scholarship. The Tournament has a 5 game guarantee for all teams, and the games will be seventy-five minutes each. The tournament is sanctioned under ASA Rules.
The teams are from throughout Texas as well as representation from Louisiana and Arkansas. Several teams are from the Houston area and the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. East Texas has local teams from New Diana, Longview, Henderson and Tyler in the Showcase.
The first games will start at 8 a.m. Saturday, September 22, on all eight Lear Park Softball Fields. The final games on Saturday night are scheduled at 9:30 p.m. on all eight fields. On Sunday, the games will start again at 8 a.m. with the final games played at 3:30 p.m. There are 125 games scheduled for during the two day event.
