The 97 annual East Texas State Fair kicked off Friday.
The 10-day long event has some new additions to the line up this year.
John Sykes tells KETK new additions to this year's line up include a large covered tent in the designated beer drinking area, a rainforest exhibit from Illinois, the "Agriworld" area, and several educational and interactive programs.
There are also new corn dogs.
Sykes says this year's vendor beat out the Texas State Fair in a blind taste test.
Recent analysis showed the fair has a $7.2 million dollar economic impact on Tyler alone.
The East Texas State Fair runs daily through September 30.
It's located at 2112 W. Front St. in Tyler.
