TYLER — A man is in serious but stable condition this morning after being shot in the chest early this morning near UT Tyler.
It happened around 2:30 in the morning at the corner of University and Patriot...the local hospital told Tyler Police according to witnesses with the patient, the shooting happened when they were all in a vehicle at the intersection.
Police say bullet holes are in the car and shell cases were found at the location.
According to an email sent to UT students, the vehicles involved were a white Chevy Impala and a gray SUV -- possibly a Tahoe.
The e-mail also says some of the shell casings appear to come from an assault rifle...
Tyler police say anyone with any information is urged to call them.
