Longview, TX — LeTourneau University will feature renowned guitarist Phil Keaggy during a chapel service at 10:50 a.m. and again in a free concert at 7 p.m. in the S.E. Belcher Jr. Chapel and Performance Center on the LETU campus, 2100 S. Mobberly Ave. in Longview.
Keaggy is an American acoustic and electric guitarist and vocalist, and one of the most admired guitarists of all time, with a solo career that has spanned more than 30 years and has included over 50 solo albums. He has contributed to many more recordings in both the contemporary Christian music and mainstream markets. One of the most sought-after studio guitarists, he continues to sell out concerts all over the United States, with his every changing style, ranging from rock to fully orchestrated instrumental compositions.
Keaggy spent most of his early years involved in music, but it wasn’t until 1976 that he would record his solo album, “Love Broke Thru,” which was followed by a string of albums, including the acclaimed instrumental album, “The Master and the Musician.”
He is a seven-time recipient of the Gospel Music Association’s Dove Award for Instrumental Album of the Year, and was twice nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album. For three years in a row, he was voted one of the top finger-style guitarists by Guitar Player Magazine.
