Tyler, tx — The city of Tyler has confirmed two water main breaks. One is at the 2400 block of Old Bullard Road and the second is near the 700 block of South Broadway.
The break on Broadway is an 8” main. The break on Old Bullard is a 6” main.
There are customers who are without water at this time. The City of Tyler released this statement about the outages: "Under Ch. 19 -36, we notify customers if there will be an outage due to scheduled maintenance. Because these are both breakages and not planned maintenance – customers were not notified. We anticipate the repairs to be completed and water service restored within four hours. We do not know at this time how many customers are without water service."
Drivers are urged to take alternate routes and avoid both areas.
The city says the breaks are unrelated.
City crews are responding to several possible water main breaks in Tyler.
Water is flowing from underneath Old Bullard Road between Chilton and Old Jacksonville.
City of Tyler Spokesperson Susan Guthrie says they were recently alerted to the problem and have dispatched crews to the scene.
Guthrie believes the flooding is being caused by a water main break, but can not confirm that as the cause at this time. She also says crews are working on the city's sewer system today.
In a separate incident, traffic has been reduced to one lane on at the corner on Rowland and Broadway over the same issue.
