Nacogdoches, Texas — A Stephen F. Austin State University official warns that Medicare patients in Nacogdoches County and across East Texas will likely face less access to physicians and services as provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act become law over the next two years.
“What we’ve got is almost a perfect storm coming at us,” said Glenda Walker, Stephen F. Austin’s director of nursing. “With health care reform, we are looking at 30 million people being added. We are looking at a population that is getting older. And with an older population, the more you have in health care consumption.”
