TYLER — The cause of a house fire that happened in Tyler late Tuesday night has not yet been determined.
Just before 10:00pm on Tuesday, Tyler firefighters were dispatched to the fire on the 1500 block of Bowie Dr, where neighbors had reported a house fire.
When first responders arrived, at least 2-3 bedrooms were heavily involved in fire.
A second alarm was called, and firefighters were able to quickly control the fire.
Luckily, nobody was in the house at the time. However, the house had severe damage.
Authories with the Tyler Fire Department tell KETK, in addition to general fire damage, there was a large amount of smoke and heat damage to the entire house.
Red Cross was contacted to assist the homeowners with items that their insurance wasn't able to help them with immediately.
They are temporarily staying in a hotel.
Investigators will be out Wednesday to investigate the fire in the daylight to try and determine a cause.
Tyler Fire officials are urging prevention, and say that almost everyone is affected by fire at some point in their lifetime.
October is fire prevention month, but they say fire prevention should be thought about year-round.
