Lufkin ,Tx — Lufkin Police are investigating more than twenty burglaries that may be linked to one person.
"There's this fella that's going around kicking front doors in and back doors whether people are home or not," said Dane Eckman from Lufkin.
Lufkin Police SGT. Abbott says the burglaries have been random.
Lufkin Police tells KETK that at this time they are all being investigated as the same burglaries that have been taking place since August, however, those burglaries were commonly known as the "Door Kick Burglar" and right now some of these doors are seen as pried open, however, they all have the same similarity of their phone lines being cut off.
People living in neighborhoods such as, Four Seasons, Wood Terrace, Crown Colony, and homes on Summerset drive, and Oleta street have reported break ins .
Robert Taylor from Lufkin said, "I hope they catch whoever it is from kicking doors in and I guess cutting phone lines."
Others that live in the area say they hope the burglar gets caught before someone is forced to react.
"For the safety of the people that are getting broken into and the guy that's doing it man somebody's going to get hurt," Eckman said.
We spoke with an ADT alarm system employee who has been installing more alarms in homes along Oleta street as of the recent incidents.
One victim who has an alarm system, but didn't have it on, the one day he needed it most, is Al Meyer of Al Meyer Ford in Lufkin.
He said, "People always think its not going to be them, and it will be you. chief of police have established a task force, we have a task force under cover agents and we have patrol we have cameras, and just we wont tolerate this in this community hopefully."
He says that alarms, cameras, and lights are great, but, they won't do you any good if they are not on.
There have been no arrests for the "Door Kick Burglar."
