Lufkin ,Tx — While crime statistics statewide dropped in some areas in 2011, burglaries, thefts and assaults in Lufkin and Angelina County were on the rise, according to a federal report released this past week.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation Uniform Crime Report tracks and predicts crime trends nationwide, releasing figures yearly for city and county law enforcement. The report shows that violent crimes and property crimes increased nationwide, by 11 and 18 percent, respectively.
