Kilgore, TX — A Kilgore police officer received a nasty injury while trying to detain two men who were allegedly passing counterfeit checks.
The Kilgore Police Department responded to reports of two men, later identified as Moyses Aguirre-Banega and Jose Ortez, were passing bad checks at the H&L Liquor store. When authorities made contact with the alleged criminals, a struggle ensued and one of the officers used his taser to subdue Aguirre-Banega.
During the fight, a police officer's finger was broken. No major injuries were reported.
Banega was charged with Robbery, forgery and assault on a peace officer. Ortez is charged with tampering, and failure to ID.
