HUNTSVILLE — Mario Swain stalked and attacked at least three Longview women before he killed 44-year-old Lola Nixon two days after Christmas 2002, evidence that helped put him on death row showed.
Swain, 33, is scheduled for execution today in Huntsville.
District Attorney Carl Dorrough, who helped prosecute Swain in 2003, recalled the description a now-retired distrct attorney’s office investigator provided.
“Russell Potts said we caught a serial killer on his first murder,” Dorrough said Wednesday. He reeled off a list of women who testified variously to being struck from behind, stung with a stun gun or placed unconscious by a man who put a wet handkerchief over their face.
