Longview ISD on Saturday is set to continue a tradition of more than 30 years of honoring local veterans and active members of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Honor America Night at Lobo Stadium will include performances by the Forest Park, Foster and Judson middle school marching bands and the Longview High School Band, which recently won its 63rd consecutive ‘superior’ University Interscholastic League marching contest rating. The Longview High School Viewettes will also perform.
Veterans and active members of the military are not only admitted free to the event, but will also be recognized for their service.
“We love our veterans and this is our way of honoring them for their service to our country,” Superintendent Dr. James E. Wilcox said. “It’s one of the most entertaining events of the year. Our students do such a great job.”
The event begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $2 and are available at the (home side) gate of Lobo Stadium. Veterans, active members of the U.S. Armed Services and active members of the Boy Scouts or Cub Scouts (in uniform) are free.
Honor America Night will wrap up with a massive fireworks display, weather permitting.
