ORIGINAL STORY: On Thursday Nov 8, 2012 at around 1:30pm Cherokee County Sheriffs Office received several calls in reference to a disturbance and at least one victim who had been stabbed in the abdomen.
The victim was flown to a hospital in Tyler where he underwent emergency surgery. The last information received on his condition, which was at approximately 8:30pm, was that he was recovering in ICU and was in stable condition. The victim was identified as Joshua Johnson.
The suspect, 31 year old Shawn Anthony Reep, fled the scene and is currently being sought by Cherokee Co Investigators.
Information obtained from witnesses at the scene indicate that Johnson and a friend went to a residence located at 642 Elizabeth Drive in the ShadyBrook subdivision near Lake Palestine.
The suspect and two other males were already at the residence, in the front yard, when Johnson pulled into the driveway. Reep immediately recognized Johnson and approached him as he was exiting the vehicle. Reep reportedly exchanged words with Johnson and then stabbed him at least one time in the abdomen.
Johnson was then taken to a neighbors house, who called for Deputies and EMS.
After Johnson left the residence at 642 Elizabeth St, Reep forced his way into the residence and threatened the homeowner with the knife. The homeowner grabbed a display sword and hit Reep on the head, causing him to begin bleeding profusely.
Reep chased the homeowner from his residence and down the street, but failed to catch him. When Deputies and Investigators began arriving in the area, Reep and the other two men, drove away from the residence. Reep abandoned the car 3/4 mile away and ran into the woods, the two other men remained near the car and were questioned at the scene.
A TDCJ tracking dog was brought to the location and the search for Reep continued until just after 8:00pm. At this time the extent of Reep's injuries are unknown.
Reep currently has a parole warrant for his arrest, and additional charges are pending.
Anyone who may know the location of Shawn Anthony Reep is encouraged to call the Sheriff's Office.
