An East Texas packing plant is closing its doors.
RockTenn packaging plant is located off I-20 near Winona.
A spokesperson with the company's corporate office confirmed with KETK Thursday the East Texas plant* will be closing in the next two months.
They notified their employees Wednesday.
The Tyler plant employed 56 people.
Back in February, nine people were let go.
In May, the plant laid off 24 more.
The ones that remained will now have to find a new job, too.
"We look at market conditions," said Robin Keegan with RockTenn headquarters in Georgia. "We look at plant efficiency. We look at transportation cost. There are numerous factors that we are constantly evaluating at all of our facilities."
We couldn't get anyone at the Tyler plant to speak with us Thursday.
The employees will be paid for the next 60 days.
RockTenn plans to help them with the transition by working with state and local agencies.
"We are complying with the WARN Act ... on helping them be aware of retraining opportunities and other benefits available," Keegan said.
The company has 330 locations worldwide.
Keegan said they have had other facilities close.
She couldn't give an exact number, but said it wasn't very many.
