Longview, TX — A dedication ceremony to name the Gerard Cace Kitchen at the Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Friday at the center, 100 Grand Blvd.
Cace, a renowned restauranteur and community leader, was co-owner of Johnny Cace’s Seafood and Steakhouse. He died July 19 while on a fishing trip at the age of 59.
Cace helped establish the Junior Achievement program and was a supporter of the Historic Longview Farmers Market.
He was a past president of the statewide Texas Restaurant Association, and was known for his love for Longview.
The event is part of the Longview Greggton Rotary Club meeting, of which Cace was a member.
The Rotary Club meeting begins at 11:15 a.m., with lunch served at 11:45 a.m. At 12:30 p.m., the special naming ceremony is scheduled to begin, featuring a blessing by Father Gavin Vaverek, unveiling of the dedication plaque and a history of Johnny Cace’s presented by Gerard Cace’s wife, Cathy.
