LINDALE — Car enthusiast and Kwik Kar owner Bryan Walding has a special appreciation for the Lindale Fire Department.
"September a year ago, my house burned down and the guys put their lives in jeopardy to try to put my fire out. And I wanted to give back to them somehow," Walding said.
So Bryan put together a car show with a portion of the proceeds going to same department that helped him out one year ago in his time of need.
"We've got everything from rat rods, military vehicles, full blown race cars, we've got a little bit of everything. Mainly old cars. It's like a blast from the past," Walding said.
Chicken Express next door was also donating a portion of their sales for the day to the department.
"They've done a lot for everybody here in town so we figured we help them out and give back to the town," said manager Eddie Schwarz.
Lindale firefighters Jeremy Layton and Kenny Vent say they can always use a little help.
"Well I mean we run on average, anywhere from 1300-1400 calls a year," Layton said.
And that help is always appreciated.
"I mean, we just really appreciate it and it helps our fire department out a lot," Layton said.
