MARSHALL — The Harrison County Commissioners Court will consider approval of the county’s declining 2012 certified tax roll when the court convenes 9 a.m., Tuesday in the historic Harrison County Courthouse.
While certified appraised values slightly increased this year compared to 2011, certified taxable values declined significantly, according to figures released in August by the Harrison Central Appraisal District.
“The total appraised value went up 0.2 percent. The taxable value, which is what the tax monies come from, went down 0.7 percent countywide, overall,” Chief Appraiser Karen Jeans said in a previous interview, pointing out that the total taxable value dropped from $6.30 billion in 2011 to $6.25 billion in 2012.
