One East Texas county remains among the top 10 natural gas producing Texas counties despite increased production in North and far South Texas.
Panola County ranked No. 5 on the Texas Railroad Commission’s latest ranking of the state’s top gas producing counties. For August, the latest month that production volumes were available, natural gas producers with Panola County operations pumped 19.1 Mcf (thousand cubic feet) of gas.
That production level was far behind Tarrant County, where the Barnett Shale and other production saw 68.8 Mcf produced in August, according to the commission.
The East Texas district monitored by the Texas Railroad Commission ranked second of 12 districts in the state for gas well completions in September with 34 completions reported. That was second only to the North Texas district, which had 49 gas completions
