Playing in the largest junior college bowl venue in the nation, the Northwest Mississippi Rangers knew it would take a big-time effort to come away with the inaugural Brazos Valley Bowl championship.
Domonique Harris and the Ranger offense had exactly that, piling up more than 500 yards of total offense on their way to a 47-36 victory over Kilgore College.
Harris completed 19 of 23 passes for 250 yards and three touchdowns while running for an additional 60 yards. Running back Damian Baker was Northwest Mississippi’s workhorse, running for 182 yards and a touchdown.
The Rangers needed almost every yard to defeat a Kilgore squad that threw for 405 yards on the day.
Freshman quarterback Tanner Tausch completed 27 of 53 passes for 354 yards and two touchdowns, and wide receiver Ed’Marques Batties caught eight passes for 131 yards and a touchdown.
