Every family has their traditions they bring out at Christmas.
One food so often misunderstood and mocked has been a holiday staple for generations and is still going strong.
Everyone has their jokes about them during the holidays.
"'Oh fruitcakes are the door stoppers for Christmas,'" said Candice Wolfe of Collin Street Bakery in Lindale. "'You wanna hold open a door put a fruitcake down!'"
But in all seriousness, you can't imagine Christmas without one.
Collin Street Bakery, which started in Corsicana, Texas has made the fruitcake famous.
"We sell millions of fruitcakes," Wolfe said. "We have customers all over the world."
They started making them in 1896.
Wolfe says this time of year is what they look most forward to.
"Business is doubled and this is our favorite time," said Wolfe said.
She says the company prepares months in advance.
