HUNTINGTON, TX — Commissioners of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality during a meeting in Austin last week approved a $38,925 penalty for violations of state environmental regulations at the wastewater treatment facility in Huntington from nearly two years ago. However, the committee voted to defer the fine.
According to information from TCEQ, the violations were discovered during an investigation in January 2011 at the facility, located about one mile southeast of the intersection of U.S. 69 and Farm-to-Market Road 1669. The facility was built in 1984 after a bond election, according to city officials.
