Though it's the middle of the week, many couples decided 12/12/12 was the perfect day to take the plunge and get married.
This year ... it's about more than just luck.
It's one of the most highly anticipated wedding dates of the year.
David's Bridal estimates approximately 7,500 brides will marry on 12/12/12.
That's a whopping 1446% increase over December 12 of last year.
"He said the world was going to end and we might as well get married," said Jeannie Irvin, a 12/12/12 bride, who married her fiance Cory at Justice of the Peace Court for Precinct 2 of Smith County.
"I think it's kinda a lucky number for us so that's why we chose today," said Sheila Watson, who also married her fiance today.
Judge Gary Alfred married 5 couples at Pct. 2 in a matter of a couple of hours Wednesday.
"That's because I'm off this afternoon or I'd have probably had more," Alfred said.
He says the luck factor isn't the only reason couples choose to wed on an iconic date.
"For the guys, it's easy to remember," he said.
David's Bridal felt the the hype in their own way when the Tyler store had to outfit two brides for the big day in quite a pinch.
"We asked them what their wedding day is, and they said tomorrow," said Marlisa Bosworth of David's Bridal in Tyler. "We had to get them ready to go ... they walked out the door with their dress totally outfitted in one day."
Bosworth also says they are already helping brides plan for the next iconic wedding date: 11/12/13.
