Kilgore High School will trade in its red for green Monday as the student body sports the school colors of Newtown, Conn., in solidarity with the campus where 26 died Friday in a gunman’s attack.
Twenty of the fallen at Sandy Hook Elementary were children. The adult dead include campus Principal Dawn Hochsprung who reports say was shot while trying to overtake the armed assailant.
The Kilgore call to don green and white was spreading Sunday on Facebook and through other communications, Kilgore High School English teacher and soccer coach Alice Crocker said.
She said the idea sprung up during discussions at church.
“We’re also hurt and touched by this,” Crocker said. “We’re just going to do it in support of them and in honor of the children that they lost, and to just show a unified front in the school system.”
