Gregg County Democrats are scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at 314 E. Cotton St. for a fiscal cliff discussion aimed at rallying local support for President Barack Obama’s arguments with Republican leaders.
The public meeting was called after Democratic Precinct Chairman Vik Verma returned from Washington, D.C., where he joined a Texas delegation meeting with the White House Office of Public Engagement.
“Join Organizing for America and Gregg County for Obama for a discussion and action on the ‘fiscal cliff,” Verma wrote in an email to party members.
The note says the fiscal cliff issue will be the first focus in efforts supporting the president’s second-term agenda.
