East Texas — East Texas school leaders spent Monday reviewing safety and security measures after the massacre Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary school in Connecticut.
“It just hits home. It tugs at my heart,” said Ware Elementary School Principal Sarah Sheppard. “When the children walk in here starting at 7 a.m. Monday through Friday, they’re mine. I take it to heart that not only do I have two children who I gave birth to in school here, but I have 770 children. Just as I would protect my two children, I will protect the 770 children.”
