Tyler, TX — Many East Texans filled the dining room with warmth and smiles at the Salvation Army on Christmas day.
People are very thankful for gift the volunteers are giving, a warm meal. For many it's a tradition to volunteer and dine with others.
A meal is served every day for ones in need. The community comes to together to make sure their day is merry.
The Salvation Army in Tyler served dozens of people on Christmas day.
The Salvation Army volunteers tell KETK:
"We're all lucky today, Jesus died for our sins and this is Christmas."
"It's a real blessing."
"We've have a lot of tremendous people in Tyler with a big heart."
"I decided that I wanted to come out here with my family because I knew that a lot of people wouldn't get Christmas this year and so I thought it would be good to give back."
"I lived here for about six-months and work program and now I live out in the community and work full-time and i didn't have any family or anything here this year so decided to come help at the salvation army."
"Myself, my three friends over here, or two right now, we've been working up here for about five years or so and worked together for Thanksgiving and Christmas and we just feel like it's trying to help the community."
