The holiday season always means more people partaking in the party punch. The Texas Department of Transportation reports that from December 1, 2011 to January 1, 2011, there were 2,462 alcohol-related motor accidents, resulting in 842 serious injuries and 78 fatalities.
To prevent from adding to those statistics TxDOT has launched its Holiday P.A.S.S. (Person Appointed to Stay Sober) campaign, with a new message: "Sober drivers make great gifts."
Larry Krantz from TxDOt tells KETK, they want to ensure peoples safety on the roads, Krantz says, "The safe ride home is not the person who is the least drunk, it's the person who is completely sober."
