Longview — From new and returning administrators to suing the state Legislature and looking at security measures after a school shooting shook the nation, 2012 was a busy year for those in East Texas education.
Here’s a look at the top events in education this past year:
In February, the Longview ISD School Board voted to rehire James Wilcox as an interim superintendent to aid the district in its search for a new chief. Wilcox had retired from the district in December 2011. His salary when he returned was half — $103,750 — of his previous salary; however, laws state he can only work part-time so he can continue to draw retirement while working.
