Jennifer Lopez applies the adage "age is nothing but a number" to herself as well as her love life.
The singer/dancer/actress is 43, but she tells Harper's Bazaar in its new issue that her mental age is "16 to 18."
"That's when I became the person that I am," she says. "Even though I didn't realize the whole journey I would go on, I still feel all that youthfulness."
And she'd have to, we presume, in order to keep up with her intense schedule, complete with 16-hour days and frequent travel. But she also has her support system with her on the road, including her four-year-old twins, Max and Emme, her mom, and her boyfriend, Casper Smart.
"He's fantastic; he's like my best friend," she says of Smart, 25. "I can tell him everything, when I'm feeling down, when I'm feeling good. He gives moral support, endless love and support."
He also helps out with the kids, who have grown accustomed to "being around a lot of people," Lopez continued. "They're open, happy, curious, smart, loving, affectionate. They're ... rambunctious."
And while she could have slowed it all down and signed up for being an "American Idol" judge and nothing more, the star says she wouldn't have found that as fulfilling.
"I'm not a judge for a living," Lopez says. "I'm a singer. I'm a dancer. I'm a performer. I'm an actress. That's what I'm supposed to be doing. It makes me a better parent, a better person."
