Conroe, Tx — A dog hit by a shotgun blast and left for dead in a trash bag on a cold night in Texas has survived, thanks to some animal lovers.
This is Buck, named after the buckshots that could have killed him. Someone found the dog in the bag, tied to a post. They got in touch with a woman known for helping distressed animals. She in turn got Buck to an emergency animal clinic.
Buck was in rough shape. He had buckshot stuck in his eyes, mouth, gums, neck and shoulders. And he had hypothermia after spending at least 10 hours in the bag.
"He was extremely anemic and very dehydrated, very lethargic, wouldn't move. He also was limping, but they've been able to stabilize him."
Buck may be blinded permanently. He also appears to have hearing loss and may have brain damage. A Facebook page has been set up for Buck, asking for donations to help pay for his medical care.
The care is expected to cost about $5,000.
