NACOGDCOHES, TX — More than 11,000 recipients of Social Security and other federal benefits in Nacogdoches County must comply with a new law requiring them to switch to electronic payments by a March deadline, a U.S. Treasury Department official said on Wednesday.
“They have until March 1 to switch to direct deposit,” said Walt Henderson of the Treasury’s Financial Management Service. “If they don’t have a bank account, we have the Direct Express card. They will be out of compliance with the requirement if they don’t switch by March 1.”
